Labor Education Programs at LER
Tuition Details and Policy
Tuition for non-degree students is $966 per course, but unionists receive a scholarship reducing tuition by 25% and pay $741 per class. This is a significant reduction from the tuition paid by University of Illinois Students on-campus students.
The School of Labor & Employment Relations (LER) has made available to union members, reduced pricing for the tuition cost of any LER online courses taken through the Office of Continuing Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The funds provided by the LER program will be transferred to your student account once the semester has started and may be used towards the tuition portion of the bill only. It is expected that if you receive funding from LER to use towards your tuition payment, that you will complete the course.
Having said that, we understand that many times there are circumstances that happen that require a withdrawal from the university. If you withdraw, the university guidelines for tuition reimbursement or credit will be followed and can be found on the registrar’s web site. If you do withdraw, you will be responsible for your % portion of the tuition, all fees and the $100 administrative fee charged. LER funds cannot be used for the fees or for the administrative cost and we will only transfer the appropriate % of tuition to your bill that you were not refunded. We will allow for one withdrawal without penalty. If you fail to finish a course more than one time and LER has paid for a portion of your tuition, you will no longer be eligible for the union reduced cost benefit. There are some union members that receive tuition grants from outside sources. If the outside source covers all tuition, you are not eligible for LER funding as this must go towards tuition.
