ASHBY

Steven Ashby is the LER Coordinator of Online Programs and an Associate Clinical Professor. Steven, based in the Labor Education Program’s (LEP) Chicago office, designed a number of the GLS online classes and coordinates the program. Contact him at skashby@illinois.edu.

Yesenia

Yesenia Vargas is LEP Program Coordinator. Yesenia, based in LEP’s Chicago office, is our point person to handle all inquiries about the online program at illinoislabored@illiois.edu or (312) 996-2624.

Jennifer

Laura

Visiting Lecturers

In addition to LER faculty, two dozen Visiting Lecturers teach in the Global Labor Studies online program. We are honored to have so many distinguished faculty instruct in our program. Here are just a few:

Trumpka

Richard Trumka is the AFL-CIO President and former President of the United Mine Workers. Rich has taught LER 100 Introduction to Labor Studies.

Sneidman

Marilyn Sneiderman has been Education Director for the Teamsters, on the faculty of the George Meany Center, and National Director of the Field Mobilization Department of the AFL-CIO.  Marilyn teaches LER 110 Labor and Social Movements.

Franklin

Stephen Franklin was the labor reporter for the Chicago Tribune for twenty years, travels  the world giving workshops to journalists on how to cover work and labor issues, and is the author of Three Strikes, Labor’s Heartland Losses and What They Mean for Working Americans. Stephen designed and teaches LER 220 The Media, Workers, and Unions.
